VO featuring a comedy accent
"lockdown? how about building a recording studio?"
That's what my wife said to me. "You have a nice voice and you can do all of these voices to make the children laugh?"
Three years later, it is what I do. A VO. The pain of going from knocking down a walk-in cupboard to create a basic studio to getting where we are today was immense, but completely transformative.

I use a Rode NT1 microphone to record. This goes through a Focusrite Scarlett Solo 3rd gen audio interface. For recording and editing, I use Adobe Audition CC. My studio is sound-treated and can achieve a noise floor of approximately -70dB.

I have a voice that is deep and authoritative. Powerful yet emotive. Friendly but sometimes a little scary! I have voiced God, the Devil, gaming baddies, children's TV good guys. I have recorded in many different accents and whispered poetry in a clipped RP British accent.

I don't believe in upsetting customers just to appear to control the transaction, yet I see it all the time. People who don't say 'please' or 'thank you'. Unreplied to messages... It's just NOT me. If we can get along, build a relationship of trust, work together to make some magic, then yes, that'll do for me.
Understanding your needs
There's nothing worse than spending hours crafting a beautiful piece of audio, powerful, deep, authoritative and emotive. Putting hairs on the back of your neck and hopefully leaving you speechless. Only to find out AFTER I have sent it to you, that you wanted a light, whimsical, comedic piece, sounding slightly scared and silly. So I will always find out what you want, and audition a few lines first, to make sure we are ALL happy.
Live Recording
Some jobs require a collaborative approach. This may mean being directed by a client. Or a live video call with both the client AND the agent or booker. This can be via Skype, Zoom, Teams or Source Connect. However you would like to do it, just let me know and I can accommodate you. And if you need a 5pm Eastern Time appointment, which would be 10pm UK time, then no problem. Needs must. I'll grab a coffee and I'll be there!
It's what I do.... full-time
Ever tried to hire a VO only to be told that they are doing their 'day job' and will get back to you with a possible recording that they can do, or they will be able to do it at the weekend when they have got some free time? Look, this is what I do. Full-time. And my wife deals with a lot of my messages and correspondence when I am recording. So unless you message at 3am, there's a good chance I will be able to deal with your enquiry within minutes. Promise!
